Unclaimed Estates in Cornwall

Could you be the heir to an unclaimed estate worth millions? There is one unclaimed estate in Cornwall and several others with links to the county among thousands of others across the UK sitting with the Government, according to an online database.

Details of more than 10,000 unclaimed estates are kept online and are available to the public – a fact many may not be aware of.

The Government are responsible for taking care of the estates due to the deceased passing away without first making a will or with no named next of kin. But if you have the right surname you could make a claim.

All the information is kept on a spreadsheet that can be accessed by anyone, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Some of the estates have been listed by the Government for decades. Any that remain unidentified will revert back to the Crown permanently.

Cornwall's largest Unclaimed Estates

Way Estate – One estate in Cornwall is that of Betty Way who died in Holsworthy, Devon. Cornwall Council is the executor of her estate. There are scant details about her birthplace, whether she was ever married and even the date of her death.

Bell Estate – Muriel Constance Bell born in St Columb, Cornwall, died in Stockport, Cheshire. She was married to Robert Jones Bell, who died in 1991.

Huddleston Estate – Widower John Eric Huddleston was born in Edinburgh and died in Portishead, Somerset, but his spouse died in Helston.

Urwin Estate – Batchelor Garth Urwin was born in St Agnes and died in Islington, London.
